St. Gabriel is one of the three archangels mentioned in the Bible. He is known as being a messenger of God because he appeared to Daniel in the Old Testament to help him interpret his visions and to Mary in the New Testament to tell her about God's plan for her. St. Gabriel is the patron saint of messengers, telecommunication workers, and postal workers, since he is known for bringing messages to the world. With St. Michael and St. Raphael, his feast day is celebrated on September 29.
