This 4" figurine of St. Catherine is a reminder of the great life she lived. Born and raised in Siena, she desired to give her life to God, even though her parents did not want her to do it. She joined a group of women called the "mantellate," who informally followed the Dominican spirituality. She helped convince Pope Gregory XI to leave Avignon and return to Rome. He later sent her to help negotiate peace with Florence. When the Great Schism of the West broke out, she left Siena to go to Pope Urban VI in Rome. She attempted to convince princes and cardinals to remain with the Pope. She died on April 29, 1380. She was the second woman every to be declared a Doctor of the Church. She is the patron saint against fire, miscarriages, sexual temptation, sickness, Europe, and many other things. Her feast day is celebrated on April 29. This figurine comes with a Prayer Card.
