This plaque is a replica of the original painting. The painting shows St. Michael holding a spear, the wine-soaked sponge, and the crown of thorns, while St. Gabriel wields the cross and nails. They are showing the Child what type of death He would endure; His face shows that He is pondering His death. The loss of one of His shoes shows how grieved He is; however, the gold background is a representation of Jesus' triumph over death, while the way the Archangels are wielding the weapons shows that they are trophies over death rather than weapons. The way Mary holds Jesus shows that she both wants to protect Him and give Him to the world. Her Motherhood is represented in the gold star on the top of her veil, for she is both Jesus' and humanities mother.
The picture measures 7" tall and 5.25" long.
