Three sailors went to get salt in a small boat in the 17th century. Suddenly, a storm came and nearly knocked over their boat. One of the three sailors was wearing a medal with the Blessed Virgin on it; all three men started praying for her protection. The storm came to a swift end, and they all saw something coming towards them from across the water. As the image got closer to them, the sailors realized that it was the Blessed Virgin, holding her Son and standing on a plank of wood. She was holding a tablet, which read, "I am the Virgin of Charity." Miraculously, her clothes were not wet.
The statue stands 12" tall and weighs 800 g.
