A 17'' Panel of our Lady of Guadalupe.
Mary appeared to St. Juan Diego as a "woman clothed with the sun" requesting that he go to Bishop Juan De Zumárraga and tell him to build a chapel on Tepeyac Hill in her honor, to show God's majesty and mercy of God to all of his children of America (North and South America). After his apparition, he went to the Bishop and told him his story. The bishop was hesitant, and after considering for several days requested proof before he built the chapel. Mary appeared to Juan three more times, and on the fourth time told Juan to gather some flowers on the top of the hill to take to the bishop as a sign. He gathered them in his tilma, a type of cloak. He then went to the bishop's house to show him the flowers. When he opened his tilma to show the bishop the flowers he gathered, the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared on it. The Bishop then believed Juan and built the chapel on Tepeyac Hill.
